Rahashree’s Pregnancy Yoga is a unique and complete pregnancy yoga series devised by Bikram’s wife Rajashree Choudhury. The classes are approximately 75 minutes and are carried out in a gentle heat, much lower than a regular Bikram class. They are designed with a focus on birth preparation and symptom alleviation. Therapeutic breathing techniques are introduced as well as specific labor and delivery exercises. Appropriate for every stage of pregnancy, those trying to conceive as well as new and nursing moms. Existing members can reserve online, or ring 0207 808-1810 to book.

OUR MOST RECENT SOHOT YOGA BABY!

“Just wanted to let you know that my baby arrived on 8th July, we’ve called him Max. Despite him being early I had fairly short labour with a natural delivery using only gas and air. I did have to use all my yoga breathing though as towards the end I was told not to push as he was not quite in the right place. Suddenly I remembered your wise words of “pant, pant, pant” and with quite a lot of pacing around combined with panting I managed not to push until it was time! Hope to see you soon - All the best,” Maia

“I truly enjoyed the pregnancy yoga class, which helped me stay fit and healthy throughout pregnancy. I never thought when I started the classes I would still be doing a standing bow pose at 41 weeks, but there you go! The pregnancy yoga gave me some sense of control over my body, made me feel strong and powerful at a time when sources of worry are endless! I now have a pretty relaxed baby, maybe that is also due to Bikram!” Marie-Pierre Olivier

“I just wanted to let you know that I had a baby boy last Wednesday 13 March - his name is Raphael and he was born at 3kg and 51cms. Although I ended up having a semi emergency c section, those yoga moves have been handy at ensuring I could use muscles to move myself around without putting too much strain on my scar and on keeping that pelvic floor working! Hoping to be back on the training in a couple of months!” Anne Spinali

“Oliver Ezekiel was born on the 8th of March at 9:35 am. He weighed a healthy 3.6kg. Everything went smooth and although not pain free, it was relaxed. I want to thank you, and all the teachers, for being so supportive and encouraging during the lessons. All through labour I remember trying to keep relaxed and breathe through the pain as I have so many times practiced in the classes. I am now utterly convinced that all those yoga lessons have definitely made a very positive difference in the way I enjoyed both the pregnancy and the delivery. I want to especially thank Paul, Karen, Dom and Marina. I have been a regular in their lessons and I have learned a lot from all the tips they’ve given me. And to you, the greatest thank ever, you have been a fantastic mentor. I would love to come and visit as soon as i recover from the aftermath of birth and introduce you to Oliver who i think is very much a Yogi baby, very calm and relaxed.” Paula Jakobsen

“Archie, Alan Verity arrived on January 2…twelve days late…I had a 40 hour labour! I remembered your breathing tips during it all, and the time spent doing your classes definitely made me physically stronger to cope with what lay ahead for us. They gave me the strength after 38 hours to push like crazy, and even the doctor commented how good my pushing was. Planning to see you soon for some postnatal classes. Best Wishes” Joanne Verity

” I just wanted to write and thank you for the pregnancy yoga classes. They were SO good and definitely helped when the Big Day came along. My baby George was delivered safely on 27th September and being fit and healthy was a huge advantage, as well as knowing some excellent breathing techniques. I am now practising some of the other positions to help me with the lack of sleep! So it was money well spent!!!” Alice Girardot

“The yoga that I did was invaluable. For the ability to try out and stay in unusual positions, breathing through contractions and feeling physically fine the following day. I managed a natural birth with 2 paracetamol. I wanted more at the end but there was no time. Thank you and Karen for your teaching and help during my pregnancy. See you soon!” Melanie Knowles

“Thank you both for all the wonderful classes, I think they helped me enormously, particularly since I lasted at home from 2.30am until 9.30am with contractions without any pain relief and well into the later part of the second stage of labour. I was doing my breathing like you would not believe!!! The classes also made bring pregnant in the third trimester bearable! I do miss them and look forward to coming back ASAP. Best wishes.” Olivia Rascoe

“Thank you so much for checking in with me, and for thinking of me. The last few wks of my preg in March were really tough, and I got induced a few days early…Jacob Newman is his name, born March 23rd - he was built by Bikram, since both mommy and daddy are fans of the hot room! I have been so very happy and fulfilled staying home with baby and being a new mother — I think I have the opposite of “baby blues”! The only small thing missing from my life is Bikram right now. I got the green light from my GP to “officially” start exercising … so I’m coming back to the Bikram. I cannot tell you how supported I feel by your concern for me. Thank you for listening to me during my madness. I will see you soon! All best.” Lisa Gonzalez

“I did think of you, Lorraine, when pushing and even suggested the bikram posture which made them change my position and made all the difference for 2nd stage- only took 25 mins of pushing and labour was 7 hrs in total. I am convinced Bikram Yoga made this easier- even the anesthetist commented on my back strength and asked me if I did a lot of yoga? The doctor and midwife were astounded at depth and length of my breath and pushing - so thank YOU for pushing us yogis- really worked!” Belen Del Amo

“Dear Lorraine, Thank you so much for such a great class yesterday evening, your expertise and knowledge made feel like I was in very good hands. I felt great after it and even better today! It seems to have really helped with the tiredness fog of first trimester.” Priyanka Pradhan

Thanks to you and Karen for the classes! The classes were great for labor and after. I used the breathing during my contractions and felt great soon after the birth and know it was because of the time spent at the studio. Emmitt loves it when I do my Pranayama breathing and it is one of the few things that keeps him from crying and calms him down (even my husband makes the sounds to quite him down now). I also made some great friends in the class that have been amazing to keep in touch with since we have had our little ones. Looking forward to coming back to classes to melt away some of the post pregnancy lbs. xo.” Stacey Sunderland

“My wonderful son Arlo was born happy and healthy at home on 1st March (narrowly missing the leap year, phew!).I’m sure his calmness has a lot to do with me practicing yoga regularly, so THANK YOU for all your support during those long nine months. I look forward to seeing you again soon - when the next one is due, if not before! best wishes.” Beth Serota
